The 2008 first-round pick signed a two-year deal with Swedish Elite League team HV71. The team confirmed the signing on its website.
Tedenby, 24, spent three seasons with HV71 before making the move to the NHL in the 2010-11 season. He appeared in 120 NHL games over four seasons with New Jersey but spent the majority of last season in the AHL after recording one goal in 15 games.
Tedenby originally signed with Lev Praha of the KHL this offseason, but the deal fell through when the team folded.
The Devils signed Tedenby to a one-year deal worth $600,000 after his entry-level contract expired last season. New Jersey will retain Tedenby's NHL rights while he is in Sweden since he is a restricted free agent.
