Report: Willie Desjardins to be named Canucks head coach Monday
Willie Desjardins is set to graduate into a high-profile NHL head coaching gig less than a week after leading the Texas Stars to their first Calder Cup title.
Desjardins will be handed the Vancouver Canucks' coaching reins Monday, per Sportsnet's Dan Murphy.
The 57-year-old was a key cog in the NHL's offseason coaching carousel despite having just two years of professional coaching experience to his name.
He reportedly turned down an offer to coach Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin in Pittsburgh before turning his attention to the northwest.
