The Dallas Cowboys have spoken to multiple teams about potentially trading disgruntled pass-rusher Micah Parsons, sources told Todd Archer, Adam Schefter, and Dan Graziano of ESPN.

The Cowboys reportedly seem willing to listen to trade offers for the first time since the contract saga involving the team and its top defensive player began. Dallas would apparently prefer to resolve the situation in the coming days.

However, it remains unclear if the team has granted Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta, permission to talk to other clubs about an extension, according to Archer, Schefter, and Graziano. An acquiring club would want to sort out the framework of an extension at minimum before completing the trade.

Parsons, entering the fifth and final year of his rookie deal, requested a trade Aug. 1 amid stalled contract talks with the Cowboys. Team owner Jerry Jones said at the time that he would not trade the four-time Pro Bowler. Jones believed he'd come to an agreement with Parsons after speaking to him without Mulugheta present. That deal was reportedly a five-year extension worth an annual average of $40.5 million.

Parsons went through a hold-in at training camp and also cited back tightness while missing team practices. The 26-year-old says his back issue has affected him since June. However, Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said earlier this week that Parsons has been medically cleared to return.

Parsons has established himself as one of football's best defenders since Dallas drafted him 12th overall in 2021. The former Defensive Rookie of the Year has earned three All-Pro berths, including two first-team selections.

Jones and Co. aren't known for rushing to reward their star players with long-term contracts. Quarterback Dak Prescott and receiver CeeDee Lamb went through protracted contract sagas of their own before inking lucrative deals in 2024.

The Cowboys kick off the 2025 regular season Sept. 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
