Eagles' Brown feels 'a little sad' for Burks after 2022 draft-day trade
On draft night in 2022, the Philadelphia Eagles acquired wide receiver A.J. Brown from the Tennessee Titans for a first- and third-round pick in a blockbuster trade. The Titans used the first-round selection to select wideout Treylon Burks, and they recently waived him.
Brown has thrived in Philly, but he's noticed that Burks' NFL career has been on a different trajectory so far.
"I am a little sad for Treylon Burks. I wish he could get healthy, because he is a good kid," Brown said on the "Pardon My Take" podcast. "I talked to him numerous times, I've got his number, and it just sucks to see it go down like that."
Burks suffered a broken collarbone in July, adding to the long list of injuries he's dealt with since entering the league. He was placed on Tennessee's injured reserve after going unclaimed on waivers.
The 25-year-old has suited up in 27 of a possible 51 contests. When healthy, the Arkansas product hasn't produced, recording 53 receptions on 92 targets for 699 receiving yards and one score.
Brown, on the other hand, has provided Philadelphia with elite pass-catching production. He's earned three consecutive second-team All-Pro nominations with the Eagles and helped them achieve a 39-12 regular-season record from 2022-24. The 28-year-old has more Super Bowl appearances in Philadelphia (two) than Burks has receiving touchdowns with the Titans (one).
"I'm grateful that happened. ... I outgrew that situation at Tennessee," Brown added. "I'm glad this happened, because I felt like I was meant to shine. We needed a big team with a big market, and I think this is the right place and the best fit for me."
Brown has 261 receptions for 4,031 yards and 25 touchdowns in 47 games in Philadelphia.
