The Denver Broncos lost their fourth consecutive game in disappointing fashion Thursday, failing to beat the injury-riddled Cleveland Browns, who started backup quarterback Case Keenum and third-string running back D'Ernest Johnson in the 17-14 victory.

Denver head coach Vic Fangio, who's under heavy pressure amid his team's skid, acknowledged poor coaching has been a factor in the Broncos' losing streak. However, he's not concerned about being on the hot seat.

"I'm not worried about my coaching status," Fangio said Friday. "What I'm worried about is this team and doing anything and everything we can to get our guys coached up to play better. That's my only focus."

Fangio is also taking responsibility for Denver's recent struggles.

"What's most concerning is our fundamentals were lacking in that game, particularly on the defensive side of the ball," he said of Thursday's loss. "When that's lacking, that's poor coaching on our part, and that starts with me. We have to do a better job of getting the fundamental things taught and executed."

The Broncos currently rank 24th in points scored per game and second in points allowed. Those numbers came against opponents with a 0-9 combined record through the first three games of the season:

2021 Broncos Opp. Record Points per game Points allowed Record
Weeks 1-3 0-9 25.3 8.7 3-0
Weeks 4-7 8-5 16 25.2 0-4

Fangio and Co. now have a long week ahead before they take on the Washington Football Team on Oct. 31.
