JuJu: Reid tried signing me by sending Lombardi Trophy photos
Andy Reid tried his hardest to lure JuJu Smith-Schuster to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Although Smith-Schuster re-signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, he revealed on "The Michael Irvin Podcast" that Reid made a championship-caliber push to sway him to join Kansas City.
"Andy Reid was just calling me and he was sending me Lombardi Trophy pictures, constantly," Smith-Schuster said. "We had a good talk, so, it would have been K.C. after the Steelers."
Reid wasn't the only notable NFL figure to reach out to the wideout. Ben Roethlisberger made a push to keep Smith-Schuster with the Steelers.
"(Roethlisberger) called me multiple times. We exchanged texts, pretty much just saying, 'Hey man, whatever you do, before you sign, call me, let me know,'" Smith-Schuster said. "I've always told him before I sign anywhere or do anything, I would let him know."
In the end, the 24-year-old wideout said he bypassed bigger offers from the Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens because of his comfort in Pittsburgh.
"(It was about) knowing the team knows you, they know your history, they know how you are, how to use you," Smith-Schuster said.
He added: "Knowing that I would have Ben back for one more year (was important as well)."
Smith-Schuster has caught 308 receptions for 3,726 yards and 26 touchdowns over his career. He compiled 97 catches for 831 yards in 2020.
