Hopkins scoffs at Texans: 'They said I'm only worth a 2nd-rounder'

A trade package led the Houston Texans to send DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals last year, but now the star wide receiver feels he's had the last laugh.

Hopkins mocked at his former team on Twitter Friday, taking a shot at the Texans' previous opinion of his trade value after having an astounding debut season with the Cardinals.

Houston dealt its former No. 1 target and a 2020 fourth-round pick to Arizona for running back David Johnson, a 2020 second-round pick, and a 2021 fourth-rounder.

Hopkins had an immediate impact on the Cardinals' offense, helping Arizona finish 13th in scoring and sixth in total yards, which was the team's best mark since 2015.

Meanwhile, the Texans' offense regressed last year, ranking 18th in the league in points. Veteran wideout Brandin Cooks topped the club with 81 catches, 1,150 yards, and six touchdowns in 2020.

Hopkins racked up 1,251 yards and eight TDs on 92 receptions per 16 games played in seven seasons with Houston.
