Pelicans' Murphy introduced mom to LeBron for her birthday
New Orleans Pelicans rookie Trey Murphy and his mom had plenty of reasons to celebrate Sunday.
Murphy, the No. 17 pick of the 2021 NBA Draft, scored 21 points off the bench as the Pelicans overcame a 23-point deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers 116-108.
Murphy's mother, Albeda, celebrated her birthday Sunday, and she got the opportunity to meet and take a photo with LeBron James after the game thanks to her son.

For his mom’s birthday, Trey Murphy III introduced her to @KingJames. She was practically in tears she was so happy. I said, “You understand your son just beat him,” and she said, “But that’s LEBRON!” pic.twitter.com/wcHt7mKogG
Albeda was so excited to meet James that she "screamed with delight," according to Kyle Goon of the Orange County Register.
A very surreal backstage experience: As LeBron was limping out, Pelicans hero Trey Murphy was waiting with his parents and asked for LeBron for a picture for his mother’s birthday. Trey snapped a pic, LeBron hugged her, and as he got a few steps away she *screamed* with delight.

James rolled his ankle during Sunday's loss and was limping at his postgame press conference, but he said he hopes the injury doesn't sideline him.
