New York Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia can begin working out and participating in baseball activities again, the team announced.
The big lefty was cleared after a scheduled follow-up stress test Monday. Sabathia underwent surgery Dec. 11 to clear a blockage in one artery to his heart.
Sabathia discovered he needed an angioplasty after meeting with a doctor to address acid reflux and heartburn issues.
The Yankees re-signed the 38-year-old in November following a 153-inning campaign in which he registered nine wins with a 3.65 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. Sabathia is expected to be New York's No. 5 starter in 2019.
