FA requests accounts from Manchester clubs over alleged tunnel fracas

The Football Association contacted both Manchester clubs to "ask for their observations" following reports that players and staff were involved in a tunnel bust-up on Sunday.

United and City have until Wednesday to respond.

Pep Guardiola's squad was reportedly celebrating with the door open after a 2-1 victory at United's Old Trafford. When Jose Mourinho complained about the noise, a row apparently ensued, culminating in milk and water being thrown at the manager. In the melee, it's believed City goalkeeper Ederson and Mourinho exchanged angry words in Portuguese, Romelu Lukaku was prominently involved, and Guardiola's assistant Mikel Arteta suffered a cut head.

Mourinho made no mention of the incident in his post-match media commitments and there were no obvious signs that he'd been involved in a heated altercation. Players from both sides were talking normally to each other after getting changed, reported BBC Sport's Simon Stone.

Michael Oliver, who officiated the Manchester derby, did not see the incident and didn't include it in his referee's report.

David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi scored either side of Marcus Rashford's equaliser to complete the 2-1 win in Stretford. Manchester City's victory against its local rival stretched an 11-point gap at the Premier League's summit after just 16 matches.
