Jurgen Klopp finally replenished the left-hand side of his defence Friday, unveiling Andrew Robertson following his transfer from Hull City.

The Scot signed a "long-term contract" with Liverpool, with it reportedly costing around £8 million for the Reds to get him to swap Humberside for Merseyside.

"It feels a wee bit surreal just now," Robertson admitted. "Obviously I'm delighted. There's been a lot of speculation over the last couple of weeks but I'm glad that the deal's finally been done and I'm a Liverpool player.

"My family are proud of what I've achieved so far and they're all over the moon with the move, as well as me of course. We're all just looking forward to being part of the Liverpool family now."

Midfielder James Milner served as an auxiliary option at left-back for the majority of the 2016-17 campaign after Alberto Moreno lost his place following some abject outings. Robertson can fill this position, but also proved to be a success at wing-back when former boss Marco Silva fiddled with the formula at Hull last season.

Now, he's playing for one of the most famous clubs in the world - not bad for someone who was working as a supermarket cashier four years ago.

"I love his story; where he has come from professionally to reach this point," Klopp said. "When you speak to him it is clear why he makes his progress. He has a burning love for playing football - he really loves the game.

"His attitude is outstanding - absolutely outstanding. His talent and skills - also very, very good."

Robertson played for historic Scottish club Queen's Park while he was bleeping through customers' groceries, and then earned his break when he moved to Dundee United in 2014.

He played for Hull for three seasons, but now joins a side that has had some of the prestigious Scottish names in its ranks. Kenny Dalglish, Graeme Souness, and Gary McAllister are three of many Scots to ply their trade at Anfield.

Meanwhile, Hull made a move of its own Friday, revealing midfielder Kevin Stewart, who made 20 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool. His move could apparently reach £7.5 million after add-ons.

Liverpool kicks off the new Premier League season with a trip to Watford on Aug. 12.
