San Diego Padres left-hander Brad Hand is one of baseball's best relievers and general manager A.J. Preller is looking to take full advantage in the trade market.

Preller and the Padres are seeking a "Chapman-type return" for Hand, an evaluator told Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.

The evaluator is referring to current New York Yankees closer, Aroldis Chapman, of course, who was traded to the Chicago Cubs last season during his first stint with the Yankees.

In the Chapman deal, the Cubs sent four players to the Yankees including the team's current top prospect Gleyber Torres as well as Adam Warren, Billy McKinney, and Rashad Crawford.

A haul like that would be a pretty steep price for Hand, who was a waiver claim by the Padres in 2016 from the Miami Marlins.

Since arriving in San Diego, the 27-year-old Hand owns a 2.82 ERA.

He led the majors in appearances (82) last season, isn't scheduled for free agency until 2020, and is making a very reasonable salary of $1.375 million.
