Swansea's Clement considers Terry approach

With top-flight football secured for a sixth successive season, Swansea City boss Paul Clement has started targeting squad additions, and one of the names atop the list is Chelsea skipper John Terry.

Terry, 36, is certain to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer when his contract with the club expires, and while the former English international considers his options - one of which may be retirement - Clement concedes that a conversation is forthcoming in due time.

"I'm going to get this season done, and he's obviously got a lot on himself," Clement told Sky Sports. "There's a big game for him coming up at Stamford Bridge, the last game of season, and I'm sure he's going to get a wonderful send-off."

Asked if bolstering his backline with a move for the five-time Premier League champion is a realistic proposition, Clement offered, "I'm not sure. I will have a conversation with him. I've known him a long time."

If any side in England's top flight needs help at the back its Swansea, whose 69 goals conceded is second-worst only to Championship-bound Hull City's 73.

Clement, who spent time working with Chelsea's first team under Guus Hiddink before moving to Blackburn in 2011, admits that the Blues' visit Sunday from lowly Sunderland may be the Barking-born centre-half's final match.

"I don't know what his thinking is, whether he's going to carry on first of all - there's been talk in the media that it's going to be his last game," Clement added.

"Whether he'll go on here in the Premier League or abroad, that's all unsure at the moment."
