Benfica's Teixeira set for Wolves sojourn

Joao Teixeira is set for a prompt return to English football with Wolverhampton Wanderers less than three weeks after joining Benfica from Liverpool.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder apparently turned down fresh terms on Merseyside to return to his homeland of Portugal, but is now readying for a season-long loan in the Black Country following the unveiling of new Wolves boss Walter Zenga.
The West Midlands outfit was recently the subject of a takeover from a Chinese consortium that boasts ties with Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes, who counts Cristiano Ronaldo, James Rodriguez, and Angel Di Maria among his stacked list of clients.
Transfers of such lofty names in the game are of course fanciful for a Championship club, but Mendes' influence has already shown with earlier projected deals falling on the wayside and the acquisitions of Helder Costa and Teixeira from Benfica.
Wolves finished 14th in the English second tier last season, and has been absent from the Premier League since 2012.
Walter asked if he can take Wolves to the Premier League: "I can wish but I cannot promise. But I can promise that we will work very hard."
