Report: Super agent Jorge Mendes involved in £40M Wolves takeover
Renowned football agent Jorge Mendes and Chinese millionaire Robin Li are apparently nearing a £40-million takeover of Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Telegraph's John Percy reports that the transaction would involve incumbent manager Kenny Jackett being replaced by Jolen Lopetgui, who was sacked by FC Porto in January of this year.
It's understood that the consortium has beaten numerous competitors to near a deal, and that it's likely to be completed within three weeks to meet its target before Wolves' season opener at Rotherham United on Aug. 6.

The business plan has been submitted to the Football League by chief executive Jez Moxey, providing proof of funding. The passing of a fit-and-proper-person test exploring the prospective owners' business and humanity backgrounds would then have to be passed before the takeover is ratified.
Mendes represents Jose Mourinho, Cristiano Ronaldo, James Rodriguez, and many other stars, and has already been in contract with Wolves' head of recruitment Kevin Thelwell over potential transfer targets. This alleged involvement has been detrimental to recent moves, however, with Idrissa Sylla's £2.3-million switch from Anderlecht among the most notable believed to have collapsed.
