His father was shot dead in 2004, but the relationships he went on to form with his dad's college teammates have led Jaden Hunter back to Athens.
The four-star outside linebacker in 2017 committed to Georgia on Monday, nearly a quarter-century after his father starred at wide receiver for the Bulldogs.
Hunter's father played at Georgia from 1992-95. He was killed when Jaden was five years old.
Hunter is rated by ESPN as the No. 5 outside linebacker in the 2017 class, and the 111th overall prospect on the ESPN 300.
He attracted offers from several signature programs, including Alabama, Florida State, LSU, and Clemson.
