Will Grier to miss West Virginia's bowl game with finger injury
Will Grier may be coming back for his senior season, but his junior campaign is officially done, as the star quarterback's finger injury will cause him to miss West Virginia's bowl game against Utah.
Head coach Dana Holgorsen confirmed the news on Wednesday, joking with Allan Taylor of WV Metro News that, "I told (Grier) if he declared for the NFL, I was going to make him play."
Grier suffered the graphic injury in the Mountaineers' second-last game of the season versus Texas. He missed the program's season finale against Oklahoma and won't be healthy enough for the bowl game against the Utes.
While his bowl-game absence hurts the West Virginia offense, the fact he's decided to return for his senior season is a massive positive for the Mountaineers' chances at the Big 12 title in 2018.
The 6-foot-2, 214-pounder threw for 3,490 yards and 34 touchdowns in his first season as West Virginia's starter.
