Alabama's Cooper Bateman: Transfers to Utah, will walk on

Bateman has enrolled at Utah and is expected to walk onto the football team this spring, Kyle Goon of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Analysis:

The former Alabama quarterback announced late in the season that he would transfer to a different program, but he did remain with the team through its run to the College Football Playoff. However, with Jalen Hurts entering just his sophomore season for the Tide, Bateman will try his luck at a different program. 2016 starter Troy Williams is the incumbent, but Bateman will have to beat out other promising signal callers to win the job for the Utes. Bateman is a Utah native and former four-star recruit.
