Nebraska won't renew defensive coordinator Mark Banker's contract after two years on the job, the program announced Wednesday.

Banker came to the Cornhuskers with head coach Mike Riley when the latter was hired from Oregon State ahead of the 2015 campaign.

"I want to thank Mark for his hard work and contributions to our football program the past two years, and for all of his service and dedication as a member of my previous coaching staffs," Riley said in a statement.

Nebraska struggled on the defensive side of the ball for much of this season, and gave up 78 points in its final two games. After racing out to a 7-0 start, the Huskers wilted down the stretch and finished 9-4.
