Duke adds 4-star prospect Mitchell to loaded 2022 class
Jon Scheyer's first recruiting class as Duke head coach is shaping up to be a good one.
Four-star prospect Mark Mitchell announced his commitment to the Blue Devils on Friday. The 6-foot-8 power forward is the third-highest rated player at his position and the 30th overall recruit on the ESPN 100 for 2022.
Duke beat out UCLA and Missouri for Mitchell's services.
"The relationship with coach Scheyer was the main thing that made me want to go to Duke," Mitchell told Joe Tipton of On3 Recruits. "I was able to talk to him almost every day and got to know him as a person and as a coach. I think he's going to be a great coach."
Mitchell joins a loaded recruiting class that includes five-star prospects Dereck Lively, Dariq Whitehead, and Kyle Filipowski, as well as fellow four-star commit Jaden Schutt.
"I can feel the family environment at Duke," Mitchell said. "The Brotherhood is real, for sure. They love each other. They develop their guys also and get them to the NBA, and that's my goal."
