Clippers' Harrell picks up Hustle Award in career year
Los Angeles Clippers big man Montrezl Harrell was named the 2019-20 recipient of the NBA Hustle Award, the league announced Wednesday.
The distinction "honors the player that makes the energy and effort plays to help his team win throughout the season," according to Brian Martin of NBA Stats.
Previous winners of the Hustle Award include fellow Clipper Patrick Beverley (2016-17), former Philadelphia 76ers big man Amir Johnson (2017-18), and Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart (2018-19).
On a per-minute basis, Harrell ranked first in the league in defensive box outs (0.193) and charges drawn (0.017), third in box-out team rebounds (0.119), fourth in overall box outs (0.208), and 11th in contested shots (0.444).
The 26-year-old also captured the Sixth Man of the Year Award for 2019-20 after putting up 18.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game, coming off the bench in all but two of his 63 appearances.
