The Al Horford sweepstakes are heating up.

The Sacramento Kings and Philadelphia 76ers have emerged as surprise bidders for the 12-year vet in free agency, league sources told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne and Brian Windhorst.

Sacramento could be losing big man Willie Cauley-Stein to free agency and are said to have a number of top centers on their wish list, sources told Shelburne and Windhorst. Cauley-Stein's agent has already expressed that his client "needs a fresh start."

Meanwhile, the Sixers would be an interesting landing spot for Horford considering the club already has Joel Embiid manning the middle.

The Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, and New Orleans Pelicans have also apparently expressed interest in Horford, who reportedly declined his $30.1-million player option for 2019-20 with the Boston Celtics.

The 33-year-old is said to be seeking four-year contract and is said to have rejected a three-year, $60-million offer from the Celtics.

Horford averaged 13.6 points, 6.7 boards, 4.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks per contest across 68 appearances last season.
