Durant went from player to fan during Curry-Irving duel: 'Sit back and enjoy the show'
At some point, all you can do is watch.
Stephen Curry and Kyrie Irving put together a basketball clinic Saturday at Oracle Arena in a showdown between the NBA's two top seeds, the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics. The Warriors prevailed thanks to a season-high 49 points by Curry, though Irving held his own, dropping 37 points on 72-percent shooting and keeping Boston in it until the dying seconds.
The captivating back-and-forth between the two All-Star point guards left some teammates in awe, including Warriors forward Kevin Durant, who finished with a relatively modest 20 points in comparison.
"You just got to sit back and enjoy the show," Durant said postgame, according to ESPN's Chris Forsberg. "You know what I'm saying?
"Once they got it going, you got to get out of the way. You can tell both teams kind of felt that midway through the first. Kyrie got it going, got it cooking early, and then Steph, you could just tell was kind of back and forth."

Curry ultimately proved too much for the Celtics - and Irving - to handle in the last three minutes. The Warriors guard scored 13 of his team's final 14 points to effectively keep Boston at bay, including a contested lay-up with 1:08 left to gave Golden State a five-point lead and bring the crowd to its feet following a quick Celtics time-out.
Irving couldn't help but concede that every time Boston felt they had a chance late, Curry seemed to instantly shut down their hopes of a win.
"I felt like we did a great job sticking to our game plan, but he's unbelievable," Irving said. "You gotta give credit when credit is due.
"When he's making shots like that, it makes it easier for their team to create separation. For us, we would be getting within four, within two, and then Steph was hitting some big bombs to create that separation. So that's a tell-tale sign of a great player."
