Denver Nuggets forward Juancho Hernangomez has been diagnosed with mononucleosis and is out indefinitely, the team announced Tuesday.
Hernangomez barely played in the Nuggets' first two games of the season, failing to register a single box-score stat and attempting just one field goal in 13 combined minutes of action. He didn't dress for Monday's game against the Washington Wizards.
The sweet-shooting sophomore, who was drafted 15th overall by the Nuggets in 2016, is coming off a strong rookie campaign in which he hit 40.7 percent of his 3-point attempts and averaged 13 points and eight rebounds per 36 minutes.
Symptoms of mono typically last four-to-six weeks.
