Alex Bowman: Fast Bristol Dirt Practice

Bowman was fastest in opening practice for the Food City Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway Friday afternoon. He turned a fast lap of 89.308 mph.

Analysis:

The Hendrick Motorsports veteran was a bit of a surprise to top the scoring pylon after this first hour-long session on the dirt. Bowman edged dirt-racing ace Christopher Bell for the fastest lap of the half-mile dirt track. The No. 48 Chevrolet appears to be fast and Bowman has found a good line around the track. It will be interesting to see how he does in Saturday's qualifying heat race.
