Chase Elliott: Wins Bristol Pole
Elliott surged ahead in the final round of Busch Pole Qualifying at Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday to earn the pole for Sunday's Food City 500 after the he sped his No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet around the track at 131.713 mph, NASCAR.com reports.
Analysis:
Ryan Blaney was fastest in the first two rounds of knockout qualifying, but a bobble on his hot lap of round 3 would be the difference. Elliott would lay down an incredible, record-setting lap and take the pole position for Sunday's Food City 500. The driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet broke Denny Hamlin's track qualifying record and claimed his first pole of the season. Elliott will be a Top-5 threat in this 500-lap battle at BMS.
