Justin Allgaier: Driving No. 48 on Sunday
Allgaier will drive the No. 48 Chevrolet in Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in place of Alex Bowman who is still experience symptoms from vertigo, Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports reports.
Analysis:
Allgaier had previously filled in on a number of occasions for HMS when one their Cup Series drivers has missed a race. He did not get the call last week and the team instead went with Anthony Alfredo, the HMS simulator driver. Alfredo did not run great and ended up crashing out, although it wasn't his fault. Allgaier will be pulling double-duty this weekend as he's also behind the wheel of his usual No. 7 for JR Motorsports in the O'Reilly Series coming off a win last week in Phoenix. It's unclear how much longer Bowman will be out for with vertigo, but Allgaier is probably who the No. 48 team will continue to roll with as long as they need a driver.
