Elliott crashed and finished 38th in the Bass Pro Shops Night Race NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday night.Analysis

Analysis:

It would be a tough night all around for Elliott and the No. 9 Chevrolet team. A subpar qualifying effort would put him 16th on the starting grid and it would be a scramble and pit strategy puzzle to try to gain track position. Elliott would be the 10th caution of the night as he'd lose control and go big into the outside wall. His car would suffer extensive front end damage and the team would initially try to make repairs. However, there was too much damage and Elliott would be retired on lap 311 with the crushing DNF. Still, he'd advance into the next round of the playoffs on points.
