Ty Gibbs: Slapped with fine and penalty
Gibbs was fined $75,000 and penalized 25 owner points for intentional contact on pit road with Ty Dillon during last Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports reports.
Analysis:
Many were expecting an even bigger penalty for Gibbs, who's reckless driving on pit road nearly put pit crew members in serious danger. Gibbs is a young driver who has all the talent in the world, but he has already developed a reputation as someone who can easily lose his cool for very minor actions. It's another learning opportunity for Gibbs who will look to do better this week at Talladega as he continues to fill in for the injured Kurt Busch in the No. 23 car. Gibbs is also looking to lock himself into the Round of 8 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs behind the wheel of the No. 54 car for JGR.
