The Chicago Cubs are among several teams discussing a possible trade with the Cleveland Indians for right-hander Carlos Carrasco, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
Rosenthal characterizes the talks as "ongoing dialogue" between the two clubs.
The 28-year-old is generating plenty of interest ahead of Friday's non-waiver trade as clubs pursue young pitchers under club control. Carrasco is signed through the 2018 season with a pair of team options valued at a combined $18.5 million for 2019 and 2020.
Carrasco sports a stingy 2.83 FIP (4.03 ERA) and career-high 9.9 strikeout-per-nine rate across 21 starts this season.
