Apparently, Carlos Gomez's hips aren't that bad.

The Milwaukee Brewers have traded Gomez and right-hander Mike Fiers to the Houston Astros, the team announced.

Milwaukee will receive a package of four prospects in return for the duo including outfielders Brett Phillips and Domingo Santana, and pitchers Josh Hader and Adrian Houser.

The Brewers are also sending their No. 76 overall international signing slot to the Astros as part of the deal.

Gomez - who was the centerpiece of a deal that fell through with the New York Mets on Wednesday night after medical records were reviewed and concerns were raised over the two-time All-Star's hips - will join Colby Rasmus and Preston Tucker in the Astros outfield, which is awaiting the return of George Springer from the disabled list with a fractured right wrist.

"I'm ready physically, mentally to come to Houston and give everything I have so we can be something special," Gomez said after being informed of the trade. "When we get there, we're going to fit in and feel like we've been playing there forever."

Gomez, who is hitting .262/.328/.423 with eight homers and 43 RBIs in 74 games, is making $8 million this season and will cash in $9 million in 2016 before becoming eligible for free agency in 2017.

"He's an All-Star-caliber player," Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said. "This guy's exciting. I think everybody here is going to love him once they get to know him. He's got a lot of energy, he's still 29 years old, and has all the tools and abilities in the world, and has a great personality, really charming guy, and he's going to make a lot of fans happy here, both with his play on the field and what he does off the field."

Fiers is under team control until 2020 and will squeeze into a starting rotation which already includes Dallas Keuchel, Collin McHugh, Lance McCullers, Scott Kazmir, and Scott Feldman. The 30-year-old is 5-9 with a 3.89 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 21 starts, averaging 9.2 strikeouts per nine innings.

Phillips - the second-ranked prospect in the Astros' farm system as determined by MLB.com - is flexing his muscles in the minors this year, belting 16 homers and collecting 71 RBIs in 97 games between Advanced-A Lancaster and Double-A Corpus Christi.

Santana, another promising outfield prospect, is hitting .320/.426/.582 with 16 home runs and 59 RBIs in 75 games for Triple-A Fresno. The 22-year-old is considered Houston's seventh-ranked prospect and is the most major-league ready of the four players bound for Milwaukee.

Hader, a left-hander, and Houser, a righty, are top-30 prospects in the organization.

Here's how their numbers stack up in the minors this year:

Player Level IP ERA WHIP K/9
Hader AA 65.1 3.17 1.29 9.5
Houser A+ AA 83 5.10 1.47 8.5
