The St. Louis Cardinals acquired veteran outfielder Brandon Moss from the Cleveland Indians on Thursday.

Cleveland will receive left-handed pitching prospect Rob Kaminsky, both clubs confirmed. Moss is expected to be in uniform for the Cardinals' series finale against the Colorado Rockies, according to to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The acquisition of Moss helps bolster two areas of need for the Cardinals, who lost Matt Holliday to a strained quadriceps Wednesday and are without slugging first baseman Matt Adams. Moss has extensive major-league experience at both positions, leading the Cardinals to say they will not pursue another outfielder no matter what Holliday's MRI results.

Moss has struggled to find his form at the plate this season, batting just .217/.288/.407 with 15 homers through 94 games. The 31-year-old is entering his final season of arbitration this winter.

Kaminsky, meanwhile, entered the season as Baseball America's fifth-best prospect in the Cardinals organization after the club made him the 28th pick in the 2013 draft.

The 5-foot-11 left-hander authored a 2.09 ERA with 79 strikeouts in 94 2/3 innings across 17 starts for High-A Palm Beach.
