The Los Angeles Angels are close to acquiring Cleveland Indians outfielder David Murphy, according to multiple reports.

Murphy, a veteran left-handed batter, can play both outfield corner spots and is comfortable as a designated hitter. It should be interesting to see where he potentially fits in manager Mike Scioscia's lineup after the acquisitions of outfielders Shane Victorino and David DeJesus, who came over from the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old is making $6 million this season and has a $7-million team option with a $500,000 buyout for the 2016 campaign.

Murphy is hitting .296/.344/.437 in 84 games for the Indians.

The Indians will be getting shortstop Eric Stamets in return, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times. The 23-year-old is highly touted for his defense, and is hitting .248/.306/.360 in 62 games for Double-A Arkansas.
