Padres place Profar on IL with concussion
San Diego Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar was carted off the field after a brutal collision with teammate C.J. Abrams during the fifth inning of Thursday's game against the San Francisco Giants.
The 29-year-old was discharged from hospital overnight after being diagnosed with a concussion and a cervical (neck) strain, the Padres announced Friday.
The club placed Profar on the injured list ahead of Friday's game and recalled outfielder Brent Rooker in a corresponding move.
Profar took a knee to the head from Abrams on the scary play.
Scary injury for #Padres LF Jurickson Profar as he collides with CJ Abrams. Profar went off on a stretcher but fortunately he was pumping his fist and appeared to have a smile. We'll have an update tonight on @fox5sandiego Sports Final. pic.twitter.com/sq9MrgwXy3
