The Chicago White Sox have a bone to pick with the Detroit Tigers, and Miguel Cabrera is none too pleased about it.

Cabrera criticized the White Sox on Wednesday after they accused him and the Tigers of stealing signs during Tuesday's game in Chicago. The 38-year-old slugger specifically called out White Sox second baseman Nick Madrigal - with whom he had a brief on-field exchange Tuesday - for suggesting it.

"It was the second baseman (Madrigal) because he tried to tell the catcher and pitcher that we passed a sign. I mean, come on, it's bullshit," Cabrera said, according to Slavko Bekovic of NBC Sports Chicago. "I don't play that game.

“You need to (show) respect. You don't need to show up me or somebody, or the runner on second, trying to say we're passing the sign from second. Come on. Get the f--- out of here. ... That's not right."

He added: "I don't care what they're doing, but they need to stop that because we don't play that game. So that's why I said something to him right away."

Cabrera acknowledged that the track record of Tigers manager AJ Hinch, who was suspended for his role in the Houston Astros' sign-stealing scandal, might make teams more suspicious when playing Detroit. But he insisted the Tigers are doing nothing untoward and said the White Sox went too far with their accusations.

"Everybody's paranoid about all this (sign-stealing) stuff right now. (The White Sox) are over the limit," Cabrera said. "They need to respect. ... If they (accuse us), the next day there's going to be a hit-by-pitch or something like that, and we don't play that game. We respect the game."

White Sox manager Tony La Russa said that while he respects the future Hall of Famer, he thinks Madrigal has a right to watch for and call out sign-stealing, according to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Cabrera homered in the first inning of Tuesday's game before his exchange with Madrigal. The former Triple Crown winner owns a .646 OPS with two long balls and five RBIs through his first 10 games this season.

Hinch said he wasn't concerned about the White Sox retaliating when they host the Tigers at Guaranteed Rate Field on Wednesday, but he added that his team would "have Miggy's back," according to Evan Woodbery of MLive.
