Report: Rangers could have Choo back for ALDS

The Texas Rangers could receive some unexpected reinforcements for the postseason.

Outfielder Shin-Soo Choo may be ready to rejoin the Rangers for the club's first foray in the postseason - likely the American League Division Series as they hold an 8 1/2-game lead over the Seattle Mariners in the division - after recovering well from a mid-August surgery to repair a fractured left forearm, according to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan.

Choo is currently working his way towards regular batting practice again after showing positive signs hitting off a tee. Sullivan reports Choo would then join the organization's players in instructional league in Arizona to face live pitching in hopes of returning in time for the first game of the ALDS on Oct. 6.

"I'll be the top prospect," Choo joked, according to Sullivan.

The 34-year-old has struggled to stay healthy this season with a variety of ailments, including injuries to his back, hamstring, and calf. In the limited 49 games he has appeared in 2016, though, the outfielder has been an offensive threat, slashing .247/.369/.416 in 166 at-bats.
