Ortiz emotional after meeting young fan he hit HR for
When David Ortiz promised to hit a home run for 5-year-old Maverick Schutte, he had no idea it would spark a new friendship.
Ortiz's two-run homer on April 29 was dedicated to Schutte, a big Red Sox who suffers from a heart condition. Maverick then sent a thank-you message to Big Papi that also expressed hope for a meeting at Fenway Park. Ortiz was admittedly "touched" by it all.

On Wednesday, Maverick got his wish. Former Red Sox Kevin Millar flew the youngster to Boston from his Wyoming home to hang out with Ortiz and the Red Sox.
The Red Sox went all-out to welcome Maverick, from a visit to the Green Monster to hanging out in the clubhouse. Even the visiting Oakland Athletics made sure to say hello during batting practice.

"You put a smile on his face and that's priceless," an emotional Ortiz told Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe.
