The Texas Rangers acquired catcher Bobby Wilson from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for left-handed pitcher Chad Bell on Tuesday.
Bell will be assigned to Triple-A Toledo.
Wilson, 33, returns to Texas after spending 2015 with the club.
Across 31 games for the Rangers last season, the backstop hit .221/.291/.325 with one home run and 10 RBIs.
Bell, 27, is a former 25th-round selection of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2007 draft.
Prior to the trade, the southpaw made five appearances for Triple-A Round Rock, including two starts, and owned a 1.50 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in 18 innings of work.
To make room for Wilson, the Rangers designated catcher Chris Gimenez for assignment.
