La Liga sells 2019-2022 TV rights for €1.14B per season
Spain's top flight announced Monday that it's sold its television rights from 2019 through 2022 for €1.14 billion per season, which is an increase of 15 percent over the last three campaigns.
According to La Liga's statement, Spanish companies Telefonica and Mediapro were the successful bidding parties.
"With these provisional results, La Liga highlights the growing value of Spanish football. The world's best league is also a leader in the leisure and entertainment sector," the statement read, with translation per AFP.
The annual fee falls just short of La Liga president Javier Tebas' stated goal of €1.3 billion, though the statement claims the league also sold its international broadcasting rights for €4.485 billion over three seasons, an increase of 30 percent.
