Predicting where Kylian Mbappe will end up next season
Like a one-of-a-kind luxury item sitting in a shop window, Monaco teen Kylian Mbappe has become the obsession of many of Europe's clubs.
And like an exclusive trinket, Mbappe comes with a massive price tag that will dissuade many. With the summer transfer period in full swing, Monaco is pitted in a frantic tug o' war to keep hold of its 26-goal man.
Monaco
When Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev was probed over a potential bid for Mbappe, the Russian puppet master wasted few words saying, "He doesn't have a price."

With an academy boasting a slew of players ready to fight for a spot in Leonardo Jardim's star-studded first team, Monaco is blessed with an excess of riches. And as the transfer window's infantile stages have shown, the youth movement is in full effect.

Key components Bernardo Silva, Valere Germain, and Nabil Dirar are gone, and Benjamin Mendy, Tiemoue Bakayoko and potentially Thomas Lemar and Fabinho have one foot out the door. No worries, as Vasilyev and his scouts have scoured Europe for replacements. Get familiar with summer signings Youri Tielemans, Terence Kongolo, Soualiho Meite, Jordy Gaspar and loan returnee Allan Saint-Maximin, because they'll all be playing meaningful minutes next season.

And that's exactly what Vasilyev wants: young talent on the cheap paired with lucrative sales and the cultivation of a fledgling academy run by former Paris Saint-Germain youth head Bertrand Reuzeau. In terms of Mbappe, he checks off all the boxes, and with his 19th birthday coming next December and the state of ever-ascending transfer fees, it's likely Les Monegasques' most prized academy grad could merit the first €200-million transfer fee.
Probability Mbappe stays at Monaco this summer: 75 percent
Real Madrid
Reports surfaced in May suggesting Real Madrid has tabled a €120-million bid for Mbappe, and instead of surprise, the consensus reaction was a knowing glance and a groan by pundits and supporters alike.

Of course the biggest club in world football and its free-spending president Florentino Perez offered an exorbitant figure for the 18-year-old star-in-the-making.

Talk about a dearth of attacking options in Los Blancos' ranks with a paltry collection of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Alvaro Morata, Lucas Vazquez, and Euro Under-21 darling Marco Asensio. Heck, even Mariano was deemed surplus to requirements and sold to Lyon while Borja Mayoral paints the lines in the Bernabeu parking lot after a pointless Wolfsburg loan.
All jokes aside, there have been rumblings that Real would be willing to move one member of BBC (Bale, Benzema, Cristiano) to encourage Mbappe to make a La Liga switch, though in true Madrid fashion, Perez nullified the teen's hopes of earning as many minutes as he did at the Stade Louis II.
"The summer is very long, Zidane has had a close relationship with him for several years," Perez told esRadio. "But very few players play at Real Madrid at the age of 18."
Way to go, Florentino.

Paris Saint-Germain
Monaco wouldn't dare sell its star teenager to its main rival for Ligue 1 honours, would it?

As unlikely as that seems, reports from French outlet L'Equipe on Monday claimed Mbappe and his father had a "secret meeting" with PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi and newly appointed sporting director Antero Henrique.
It is understood that the capital club has proposed a €200-million joint bid for Mbappe and Fabinho, a story a few English rags - whose front pages are exclusively adorned with adverts and betting promos - have jumped on. As far-fetched as that may seem, Al-Khelaifi has expressed his frustrations with the end of PSG's four-year reign of league domination, and the Qatari tinkerer is nothing if not reactive.
Just ask Unai Emery, Patrick Kluivert, and Marco Verratti, the first two who were booted from their position by Al-Khelaifi, the latter who the club is desperate to keep hold of amid publicly admitted frustrations with last season's runner-up finish. The tricky Italian wants reinforcements at the Parc des Princes to help ward off the likes of Juventus and Barcelona, and that's precisely what Al-Khelaifi appears to be targeting.

Arsenal
If there was ever an indication that Arsenal is realistically coming to terms with the fact it has nary a chance of signing the gazelle-like runner, it's the move for Alexandre Lacazette.

While the two Les Bleus standouts are different players - Lacazette, a powerful traditional No. 9, and Mbappe, a pacey left-sided runner who can also play up top - the Gunners needed a bona fide forward, and from the sounds of it, they're about to get their man.

That's not to say that Arsene Wenger doesn't desire the sinewy services of Mbappe, who in one season of top-flight football resembled Arsenal legend Thierry Henry more so than any player since Henry himself, it's just not a realistic proposition at the moment.
And to think, some supporters thought Mbappe would follow in the footsteps of Arsenal's trio of brilliant French forwards: Henry, Olivier Giroud, and Yaya Sanogo. Apologies to Jeremie Aliadiere.
