Marseille disciplined after crowd violence in Lyon match
The French Football Disciplinary Committee announced Thursday that Olympique Marseille will be forced to close their north and south stands at the Stade Velodrome for Sunday's match against Angers for precautionary reasons.

The decision to close the two sections of the stadium stems from events during Marseille's 1-1 draw with Lyon, where supporters threw glass bottles and missiles on the pitch as a reaction to Mathieu Valbuena's return to the club where he spent eight seasons.

The sections will remain closed until October 15th as per the committee's request, following previous incidents of crowd violence during last season's match between Marseille and OGC Nice.
In light of Thursday's decision, Marseille president Vincent Labrune has vowed to clamp down on problematic fans and violent conduct.
"We're going to very quickly get together our supporters groups so that they too can help us to do a bit of a clean-up," Labrune told BFM TV.
"Our priority is to get our house in order within the supporters groups.

"I've warned the police commissioner about the danger of certain individuals who are constantly disrupting the smooth running of the club."
Labrune continued, "The majority of our fans are fantastic. But it is true that there are about 10 maniacs who've been posing us problems over the past few months."
