Stoke City's Geoff Cameron wins red card appeal
Stoke City defender Geoff Cameron has had a compulsory three-match ban overturned by the English Football Association (FA) after having been sent off during Saturday's 2-1 defeat to West Brom at the Hawthorns.
A statement on the FA's website read, "An Independent Regulatory Commission found that the match referee had made an obvious error in dismissing the Stoke City player for violent conduct during the game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday."
The United States international was dismissed by referee Lee Mason after pushing Baggies midfielder Claudio Yacob in the back following a questionable challenge from the Argentine.
Potters gaffer Mark Hughes didn't hide his disappointment in Yacob following the match.
"We weren't too happy with the reaction of the lad Yacob to be perfectly honest. I thought he has gone down with the intention of maybe getting Geoff sent off and unfortunately for us that's what he's able to do," Hughes told reporters after the loss.
With the suspension withdrawn with immediate effect, Cameron will now be eligible to suit up for Stoke's League Cup semifinal with Liverpool on Tuesday.
