Filipe Luis returns to Atletico Madrid after one season with Chelsea
Chelsea defender Filipe Luis is headed home to Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea confirmed the 29-year-old full-back would be returning to Spain after one season at Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian joined the London club alongside Diego Costa last year but failed to make enough of an impact to displace young Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta from the starting line up.
Though he did make 26 appearances for the Blues, he was deemed surplus to requirements and returns to the club he won the La Liga title with in 2013-14.
The sale wasn't necessarily a secret, though, with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho making it clear he would be moving the Brazilian full-back before the move was made official.
Chelsea is now rumored to be chasing the signature of another Brazilian left full-back, Alex Telles.
