Report: Arsenal willing to make Petr Cech highest-paid 'keeper in club history on £100,000-a-week contract
A pay raise is reportedly in store for Petr Cech should he move from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates Stadium.
According to The Telegraph, Arsenal F.C. are willing to make Cech the highest-paid 'keeper in club history with a £100,000-a-week contract, a significant increase from the roughly £90,000-per-week he apparently earns at Chelsea F.C.
Manager Jose Mourinho was allegedly overruled in his attempt to keep the 33-year-old 'keeper at Chelsea or only sell him overseas, and the club are reportedly preparing a bid for Stoke City's Asmir Begovic, who is their top choice to replace Cech.
Such a salary would likely make Cech one of Arsenal's top earners. Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are believed to be among a select group of players who earn more than £100,000 per week, while Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott are believed to be on contracts in the range of £100,000 per week.
One year remains on Cech's contract, and he's made it clear that he doesn't want to spend another season as Thibaut Courtois' understudy at Chelsea.
