Report: Arsenal restructure continues as another senior figure departs
Huss Fahmy is set to leave his post as head of football operations at Arsenal as the club continues to restructure its executive wing, according to The Guardian's Nick Ames.
Fahmy, who joined Arsenal from professional cycling outfit Team Sky in 2017, oversees contractual and recruitment issues at the Emirates Stadium. His role was harder to distinguish since the former head of football Raul Sanllehi departed in the summer and Mikel Arteta was promoted from head coach to first-team manager, so he reportedly decided to leave under his own volition.
Fahmy is expected to officially depart in November.
Arsenal are expected to hire a replacement, but not into a senior role. It's understood that the key decision-makers for Arsenal's football operations are now Arteta, technical director Edu, chief executive Vinai Venkatesham, and academy manager Per Mertesacker.
The protracted shake-up at Arsenal has also affected jobs outside the boardroom, as 55 employees were made redundant in August due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic. The club's scouting department has also been subject of a major overhaul, which included the exit of the head of international recruitment, Francis Cagigao.
