Niko Kovac's final act as Eintracht Frankfurt manager will be to oversee a match against Bayern Munich, the team he will take over at the end of this campaign.

Luka Jovic flicked in a Jonathan de Guzman corner for the 74th-minute winner at Schalke, and Eintracht survived two disallowed goals before referee Robert Hartmann called time on Wednesday's DFB-Pokal semi-final.

Relations between Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt were strained by last week's announcement that Kovac will succeed Jupp Heynckes as manager at season's end. Eintracht sporting director Fredi Bobic branded Bayern's conduct "very annoying, not professional and disrespectful," and the Bavarian giant's president Uli Hoeness retaliated by dubbing its rival's stance as "outrageous."

Hoeness added: "We decided to let them know as soon as possible, now they have more time to get a new coach."

Eintracht was smashed 4-1 by Bayer Leverkusen in its last match - the first fixture after Kovac was revealed as Bayern's next handler.

The DFB-Pokal final will be contested in Berlin's Olympiastadion on May 19, with Bayern potentially chasing another treble under Heynckes due to the club's continued participation in the Champions League.
