Bayern Munich has advanced to the 2017-18 DFB-Pokal final after decimating Bayer Leverkusen 6-2 at the BayArena on Tuesday. The Bavarian outfit is set to take on the winner of the other semi-final between Schalke 04 and Eintracht Frankfurt, set for Wednesday at the Veltins-Arena.

A Thomas Muller hat-trick, and goals from Javi Martinez, Robert Lewandowski, and Thiago Alcantara gave Jupp Heynckes' side a straightforward away victory, and sees the 18-time German Cup winner advance to its fifth finals appearance in the last seven seasons.

Lars Bender looked to have brought Bayer Leverkusen back to life, scoring in the 16th minute to cut Bayern's lead down to 2-1, but an inspired second-half showing from the Bavarians put the result to bed.

An excellent free-kick goal by Leon Bailey in the 72nd minute was reduced to a mere consolation goal as a result of Bayern's emphatic lead.

A new winner will be crowned regardless of the result at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on May 19, as previous holder Borussia Dortmund was eliminated at Bayern's hands in the round of 16.
