Ticats reach 3-year deal with Bo Levi Mitchell

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats agreed to a three-year deal with pending free-agent quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, the team announced Tuesday.

The contract is believed to be worth just over $500,000 per year, TSN's Dave Naylor reports.

The Ticats acquired Mitchell's rights in a trade with the Calgary Stampeders in November.

Mitchell spent his entire career with the Stampeders prior to the trade but lost the starting quarterback job to Jake Maier in 2022. Mitchell threw for 2,010 yards with nine touchdowns to six interceptions last season.

The 32-year-old signal-caller expressed interest in testing the free-agent market following his move to Hamilton. Ticats head coach Orlondo Steinauer said earlier this month that the team was "still working" on getting a deal done with Mitchell, according to Justin Dunk of 3DownNation.

Mitchell won two Grey Cups during his time in Calgary and is the franchise's all-time leader in passing yards.

Hamilton also has quarterback Dane Evans under contract for the 2023 campaign. Evans threw for 3,883 yards with 16 touchdowns last season, but he also led the league with 16 interceptions.
