Carpi edges Udinese to boost Serie A survival bid
Milan - Serie A strugglers Carpi injected new life into their bid to beat the drop with a precious 2-1 home win over Udinese on Saturday.
Udinese travelled to Carpi's temporary home in Modena looking for their third consecutive win but were frustrated throughout by Fabrizio Castori's men.
Lorenzo Pasciuti broke the deadlock on 26 minutes when he headed home from Raffaele Bianco's cross and Carpi doubled their lead 20 minutes from time when Lorenzo Lollo was left unmarked on the edge of the box to fire past Orestis Karnezis.

Former Napoli striker Duvan Zapata reduced the arrears for the visitors but it was too little, too late as Carpi held on for just their third win in 18 games.
Carpi remain second from bottom but are now only two points from safety ahead of the rest of the weekend's matches, while Udinese stayed 11th.
Leaders Inter Milan host Sassuolo on Sunday looking to protect their one-point lead over Fiorentina and Napoli.
Fiorentina host Lazio later on Saturday while Napoli are away to Frosinone on Sunday when champions Juventus, four points off the pace in fourth, travel to Sampdoria.
Roma, who sit in fifth, host AC Milan in Saturday's late fixture.
