Speaking at media day for the Quicken Loans National, which benefits his foundation, Tiger Woods said he's "progressing nicely" in his recovery from two back surgeries, but there's no timetable for his return to competitive action.

Despite sitting in one of the lowest points of his golf career, Tiger still has lofty expectations for his return.

"(Jack Nicklaus') major championship record is certainly still attainable," Tiger said. "I got him on the regular ones already. But the major one is certainly up there. (Sam Snead's tournament wins record) I'd like to get as well. I'm No. 2 on both lists. It'd be nice to end up at (No. 1) on both lists.

"That's a long way away, because it's going to take time to get to that point. But hopefully I can get out here and compete at that high level, and maintain that level."

Tiger's 14 major victories are second to Nicklaus' 18, and his 79 tournament wins are three back of Snead's 82.

As for when he'll be ready to return, Tiger isn't ready to put a date on that quite yet.

"If I knew, I'd tell you," Tiger said. "It'd be fun to know. It'd be nice to know that I'm going to play on such-and-such a date, but I don't know."
